Political Posters from 2016

These first images are based on something the artist Tomi Ungerer said in a documentary about his life called 'Far out isn't far enough'. He mentioned the German war posters that were in all the train stations when he was a child. They were design to smack you in the face because they only had seconds to grab your attention.

All the posters were done using Photoshop and only digital files at this point.
The RNC Last Supper, the only problem was only one guy showed up.

Size & Perspective

This will give you more of an idea of the size of the triptych. I shot this this morning at 7am prior to starting to work on the detail work that has to be done. As you can see it almost covers the entire end of our house. It has been a juggling act moving and working on each canvas because my work space is only 10'x10'.

Toronto Visit

I recently visited Toronto and got the chance to see where my first tryptich was installed. Bill Norgate, the owner of the piece is planning to change the wall colour and raise the paintings up a bit higher. This will lessen the blocking of the paintings by the equipment in his showroom. The wall colour change will bring some more warmth into the showroom space by picking up a colour from the tryptich. I really enjoyed meeting with Bill and having a chance to provide a little input in the hanging of this piece. Thanks again to my brother Norm for arranging the meeting and the tremendous hospitality shown by Norm, Helen, their daughter Linda, and Clive and my sister Linda. Cheers to all our friends new and old!

Where have I been?

I was just checking my blog and realized that I hadn't posted anything since late August. I have been painting, just a bit and repainting a bit more. Most of my time has been spent on family business. Last year my Father passed away October 1st. and this year my Mother passed away September 25th. which also happens to be our wedding anniversary. The photo I have displayed is one of my Siblings which was taken around 1955. Without the help of my Wife, my Daughters and my Siblings, this last year would have been devastating. Their emotional support has kept me going. So to re-cap my father passed in October 2008, my daughter Janna got married to Travis in May 2009, I had open heart surgery 12 days later, my mother passed in September 2009, I then found out I would have to have more heart surgery in 2010. It's been a busy couple of years.
