On Wednesday, July 4th I attended 'Stir It Up', the Western Art Gallery buyers event. The exhibition was amazing, it felt like an Art Convention. The artwork filled two exhibition spaces in the BMO Centre on the Stampeded grounds. I met a lot of great people and some terrific artists. The excellent work done by the volunteers to create this event must be commended! The organizers of this event did a wonderful job bringing together a wonderful mix of traditional Western themed artwork and the new Contemporary Western artwork of Artists from Western Canada and the South Western United States.
It was pleasure and an honour to have the opportunity bring my work back Calgary and participate in the 100th. Anniversary of the Calgary Stampede. Thanks Calgary, I hope to see you next year!
The concept behind these pieces is to create an interaction between viewer and image. The canvases can be re-arranged in multiple ways. Depending on the viewer the image can reflect the mood of the individual. Best exemplified in the TT Pine painting puzzle, the mood is represented through abstraction of the image. The Maple Puzzle is more a study of visual observation and a bit of a mind bender.
